Hidden mold underneath carpeting

Sometimes a water disaster uncovers hidden mold issues that homeowners or business owners are completely unaware of. This office space in Ocean Grove suffered such a loss when a hot water heater in an apartment above broke. SERVPRO of Eatontown/Long Branch was called to clean up the water and dry out the areas affected. However once the soaked carpet and padding were removed, mold was discovered underneath, which presented another set of problems. Mold is especially difficult to mitigate and must be done carefully and by professionals. Pictured is the soaked carpeting (before) and one of our trained mold specialists applying microbial spray as a first step toward mitigation.
